The brief
Design and build from scratch an Expo native module unifying MWM's Publishing and Advertising SDKs, making them available cross-platform for their clients.
Context
MWM, a software publisher, offers its Publishing and Advertising SDKs to its clients. Both existed as native code, iOS on one side and Android on the other, with two APIs to learn and maintain. A React Native team had to write and maintain the native bridge itself before it could use them, which held back cross-platform adoption.
Approach
The module is built on the Expo Modules API, in Swift and Kotlin, and exposes both SDKs in full through TypeScript, behind a single abstraction layer whose behaviour is verified identical on both platforms. Config plugins write the native files and edit the Info.plist at install time: an Expo app integrates the module without opening Xcode or Android Studio.
Stack
What I delivered
- Native module built on the Expo Modules API, exposing the full surface of the native iOS and Android SDKs in TypeScript.
- A single abstraction layer on the React Native side for both the Publishing and Advertising SDKs, with identical behaviour guaranteed on either platform.
- Drop-in integration in any Expo app thanks to the config plugins I wrote, which generate the native files and patch Info.plist automatically.
